Passi City Government Launches Free Coffin Program

The City Government of Passi, led by City Mayor Atty. Stephen A. Palmares, has implemented a new burial assistance program known as the Free Coffin Program. The program aims to provide support to bereaved families who may not have the financial means to pay for a coffin.

On January 3, 2023, the Milan Family of Barangay Mambiranan Grande became the first family to benefit from the program. Mayor Palmares explained that the idea for the program came from hearing the stories of families who were unable to afford the cost of a coffin to bring their deceased loved ones home from the morgue.

Prior to the implementation of the Free Coffin Program, the City Government had been providing P5,000 and a sack of rice to bereaved families as burial assistance. The Milan Family will also receive a sack of rice in addition to the free coffin.

The City Government of Passi hopes that the Free Coffin Program will help alleviate the burden and stress faced by families during the difficult time of losing a loved one.”
