The Iloilo Dinagyang Festival will resume all its street events in January 2023 after holding them digitally for two years. The festival, which is the biggest in Iloilo City and one of the most famous cultural events in the Philippines, will be held from January 13 to 22, 2023.
The annual festival will return to its regular format after two years of going digital. For Ilonggos this is their way of expressing their gratitude to Señor Santo Niño that amidst being in a very difficult situation, they are still here and thriving.
The festival will begin on January 13, 2023, with highlights on January 20-22. You can check the official schedule of activities for the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2023 for more details.
The organizers of the festival began reaching out to various stakeholders in July, as well as to many potential attendees.
The artistic group has been formed; it will work on the concepts and guidelines, especially the tribes’ competition.
The Dinagyang Festival in 2023 promises to be even more exciting, with two major performance events: the Dinagyang sa Barangay tribes competition and the Dinagyang Ilomination. If you’re planning on attending, be sure to purchase your tickets early. Please read this post to find out where you can buy tickets for the Dinagyang Festival in 2023.
The Iloilo Freedom Grandstand will be the venue of the Dinagyang sa Barangay on Jan. 22. Eight tribes will perform in four different judging areas, starting at 8 a.m.. These are Tribu Sagasa, Tribu Parianon, Tribu Panaad, Tribu Familia Sagrada, Tribu Molave, Tribu Ilonggohanon, Tribu Kanyao sang Baybayanon and Tribu Halimau.
On January 21, 2023, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., another group of Dinagyang warriors will present their creative performances in the Dinagyang Ilomination, a new tribes competition, at the city’s New Business District on Sen. Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road) in the Mandurriao district.
The Dinagyang Ilomination and the Floats Parade of Light will coexist. There will be a competition between seven rival tribes, each one representing one of Iloilo City’s seven districts.
The Dinagyang Ilomination competition will feature lit costumes and performances by the tribes, in contrast to the typical Dinagyang tribe performances.
The parade-style Ilomination contest will include three judging zones. The Atria Park District in Iloilo will serve as the initial judging location, followed by the main Diversion Road (especially at SM City Iloilo), and the Iloilo Business Park (Megaworld business district).
The numerous festivals of Western Visayas will once more be on display for Ilonggos and tourists through the morning of January 21’s Kasadyahan sa Kabanwahanan competition. These festivals will each showcase its unique culture and history.
For the Kasadyahan title, eight festival contingents from Iloilo, Antique, and Negros Occidental will compete. Dr. Eden Deriada serves as the chairman of the Kasadyahan committee.
