Iloilo City Increases Emergency Support with Additional iCare Centers

Officials in Iloilo City are considering the establishment of additional iCare Centers to provide support and assistance to residents during emergencies and disasters.

The iCare Center is a disaster-resilient and multi-purpose facility that serves as a temporary shelter, medical clinic, and evacuation center during times of crisis. The centers are equipped with basic necessities such as food, water, and medical supplies, and are staffed by trained personnel to provide assistance to those in need.

The city currently has three iCare Centers, located in different parts of the city to ensure that assistance is easily accessible to all residents. However, with the increasing frequency of natural disasters and emergencies, officials believe that additional centers are necessary to provide adequate support and assistance to the city’s growing population.

“The iCare Centers have proven to be a vital resource for our community during times of crisis,” said Mayor Jerry Treñas. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents, and the establishment of additional iCare Centers will help us do just that.”

The additional iCare Centers are expected to be built in strategic locations throughout the city, with construction expected to begin in the coming months. Officials are also working on improving the capabilities and resources of the existing centers to better serve the community.

The iCare Center initiative is part of the city’s broader efforts to become more disaster-resilient and better prepared for emergencies. In addition to the centers, the city is also implementing other measures such as regular drills and training sessions, and the establishment of evacuation routes and protocols.

“We are constantly working to improve our disaster preparedness and response capabilities,” said Treñas. “The iCare Centers play a crucial role in this effort, and we are committed to ensuring that our residents have access to the support and assistance they need during times of crisis.”
