Iloilo City is preparing for the annual Dinagyang Festival, which is expected to be even more spectacular this year. The festival will kick off with the Kasadyahan sa Kabanhawanan on the first day, followed by the inaugural Dinagyang ILOmination Tribes Competition at night, which will light up the city with unique and colorful lighted costumes. The next day, don’t miss the highly anticipated Dinagyang sa Barangay Tribes Competition.
Imagine being awestruck by the sight of seven different districts – City Proper, Jaro, La Paz, Lapuz, Molo, Mandurriao, and Villa Arevalo – competing with their unique and colorful lighted costumes that will illuminate the city skyline. The Dinagyang ILOmination Tribes Competition will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the city’s New Business District on Sen. Benigno S. Aquino Jr. Avenue (Diversion Road), in Mandurriao district, and the tribes’ performances will be given emphasis and highlighted by their Dinagyang warriors’ lighted costumes.

But Dinagyang is more than just a visual feast; it’s also a celebration of Iloilo’s rich culture and heritage. The festival pays tribute to the ancient Ati-Atihan tradition, where locals would honor the Sto. Niño (Child Jesus) with music, dance, and prayer. Today, Dinagyang has evolved into a massive event that attracts thousands of tourists and locals alike.
Don’t miss out on this year’s Dinagyang ILOmination 2023, which promises to be grander and brighter than ever before. Mark your calendars for January 21 and join in the celebration. Hala Bira, Iloilo!
