Cabatuan’s Raniele Shaine S. Saulog Crowned Miss Iloilo 2023

Iloilo City, Philippines – A 19-year-old architecture student from Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) was crowned Miss Iloilo 2023 on Wednesday night at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICON) in Mandurriao district. Raniele Shaine S. Saulog of Cabatuan, Iloilo bested 17 other Ilongga beauties. Saulog was crowned by Miss Iloilo 2022 Dorothy Marie P. Gemillan, Iloilo Festivals Foundation, Inc. president Jose Marie Layson Jr., Iloilo City’s Rep. Julienne Baronda, and Miss Iloilo Committee chairman Sara Peña. Saulog nailed the final question sent by a netizen.

The question was: “Today the population is exponentially growing. One wrong mindset of Filipinos is that they see overpopulation as something to be proud of. How will you convince the people of Iloilo that the increasing population is not good?”

Saulog answered: “The economic growth of our nation is now imbalanced. The ratio of family to houses is not equal. The amount of love and care and affection that a family could give is not enough. And if you still can’t understand that, where is your love for our country? Where is your love our community? And I truly believe that a community that cares for each other is a community that stands together strong and powerful.”

For winning Miss Iloilo, Saulog brought home P100,000 cash prize and P5,000 for bagging the Best in Themed Costume special award.

Meanwhile, the Miss Iloilo 2023 runners-up are the following:

1st runner-up – Chloei Darl Gabales of Jaro district
2nd runner-up – Tracy Lois Bedua of Barotac Nuevo
3rd runner-up – Ma. Cristina Isabel Tallador of Pavia
4th runner-up – Jeraldine Quimson of Mandurriao district

After last night’s pageant, the judges deliberated who among the Top 3 winners will represent Iloilo City to national pageants Miss Universe-Iloilo, Miss World-Iloilo and Binibining Pilipinas.

The pageant also featured various sponsors awards, with Chloei Darl Gabales, winning the most awards. Other special awards were given to candidates who stood out in pre-pageant competitions, such as Miss Selfiegenic, Best in Tourism Video, Best in Swimwear Underwater, Best in The Throne Online Interview, Best in Casual Wear Designers Fashion Show, Best in Talent and Best in Themed Costume.
